Devils Trade Brian Rolston To Isles

The Devils have acquired forward Trent Hunter from the Islanders for forward Brian Rolston. Rolston waived his no-trade clause so the deal could be consummated. "I've known for a little while that the Islanders wanted me and I know there was another team at the trade deadline as well," Rolston told The Bergen Record. "But this was just a matter of pulling the trigger. "It will be a fresh start for me with a good, young team that I think has the capability to be a playoff team."

Anaheim Acquires Carle From Montreal

The Anaheim Ducks announced Friday that they have acquired defenseman Mathieu Carle from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for defenseman Mark Mitera. Carle, 23, appeared in 68 contests with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2010-11, collecting 29 points with 44 penalty minutes (PIM). His +19 rating ranked third on the club and his 29 points ranked third among club defensemen. Carle also added 12 points in 19 Calder Cup Playoff contests, leading all club defensemen in goals and points, while sharing the team-lead among blue-liners in assists. The 6-0, 200-pound Carle helped lead the Bulldogs to game seven of the Western Conference Final, where the club was eliminated by the Houston Aeros. Carle also represented the Western Conference at the AHL All-Star Classic in Hershey, PA in 2010-11.

Ducks Acquire Cogliano From Oilers

The Anaheim Ducks announced Tuesday that they have acquired center Andrew Cogliano from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for a second-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Cogliano, 24, appeared in 82 games for the Edmonton Oilers last season, collecting 35 points with 64 penalty minutes (PIM). He has not missed a game since making his NHL debut with Edmonton in 2007-08, appearing in all 82 games in each of his four NHL seasons.

The Winnipeg Jets acquired center Eric Fehr from the Washington Capitals on Friday for a fourth-round draft pick in 2012 and prospect Danick Paquette, according to an ESPN.com report. The 25-year-old had spent his entire NHL career in Washington after being drafted 18th overall in 2003.

The Blue Jackets have acquired center Ryan Russell from the Canadiens in exchange for right wing Mike Blunden, Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations and GM Scott Howson announced today. The trade is pending Blunden passing a physical. Russell, 24, is the identical twin brother of Blue Jackets defenseman Kris Russell. Ryan Russell registered 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points, 48 penalty minutes and was +17 in 65 games with the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs in 2010-11. The Caroline, Alberta native was the Rangers ninth pick, 211th overall, in the 2005 Entry Draft. Russell has appeared in 243 career AHL games, collecting 51-49-100. Blunden, 24, has tallied 2-2-4 and 69 penalty minutes in 51 career NHL games with Columbus and Chicago.

On the day Tomas Kaberle got a three-year deal from the Hurricanes, the Bruins acquired defenseman Joe Corvo from those same Hurricanes on Tuesday in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2012 draft. Kaberle's deal averages $4.25M per season, according to the Canes. Corvo stands to make $2.5M this season (with a cap hit of $2.25M) in the final year of a two-year deal.

Brian Burke, President and GM of the Maple Leafs, announced Sunday that the club has acquired forward Matthew Lombardi and defenceman Cody Franson from the Predators in exchange for defenceman Brett Lebda and forward Robert Slaney. The trade also includes a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2013 Entry Draft. Lombardi, 29, missed all but two games of the 2010-11 season due to a concussion suffered on October 13 with the Predators against the Blackhawks. In 78 games with the Coyotes in 2009-10, he set career highs in assists (34) and points (53), ranking second on the team in both categories. Franson, 23, played 80 games last season with the Predators, registering career highs in goals (8), assists (21), points (29) and penalty minutes (30). He also appeared in 12 playoff games in 2010-11, posting a goal and five assists.

Rangers President and GM Glen Sather announced today that the club has acquired forward Andreas Thuresson from Nashville in exchange for forward Brodie Dupont. Thuresson, 23, skated in 76 games with the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL last season, registering 14 goals and 24 assists for 38 points, along with 41 penalty minutes. In 2009-10, Thuresson registered three points (one goal, two assists) in 22 contests with Nashville, making his NHL debut on October 31, 2009 vs. Dallas. The Kristianstad, Sweden native was originally selected as Nashville's fifth round choice, 144th overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Dupont, 24, skated in 72 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack/Connecticut Whale (AHL) last season, registering 14 goals and 31 assists for 45 points, along with 78 penalty minutes. The Russell, Manitoba native was originally selected as the Rangers' third round choice, 66th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Ducks Send Sutton To Oilers For Foster

The Ducks announced today that the club has acquired defenseman Kurtis Foster from the Oilers in exchange for defenseman Andy Sutton. Foster, 29, collected 22 points with 45 penalty minutes in 74 games with Edmonton last season. He finished tied for third on the Oilers in power play goals (5) and second in shots (182) while averaging 17:39 time-on-ice. A native of Carp, Ontario, Foster also led Edmonton defensemen in goals, and ranked third in scoring and appearances. Sutton, 36, appeared in 39 games with the Ducks last season, earning 4 points with a +1 rating and 87 PIM. The defenseman finished the regular season ranked first on the club in road plus/minus (+6), fifth in blocked shots (87) and tied for first in shorthanded assists (2).
